Research Collaboration between the Renewable Energy Research Center and the College of Applied Sciences - Hit
2024-10-31
As part of the collaborative research efforts between Iraqi higher education institutions, Dr. Ahmed Talaat Hamoudi, Director of the Renewable Energy Research Center, visited the College of Applied Sciences - Hit at the University of Anbar in partnership with Dr. Atyaf and Dr. Ghassan from the college. This visit aimed to discuss plans and joint research projects to advance research in renewable energy fields, particularly focusing on a collaborative project to study and analyze wind speeds in the Hit area according to international standards.
The visit included fruitful discussions about the research project, which centers on studying wind speeds as a preliminary step towards designing and testing turbine systems tailored for the local environment. The team explored the possibility of using climate data to prepare suitable models and analyze turbine efficiency under various conditions, which will aid in optimizing the efficiency of newly designed turbines to suit Iraq’s climate.
The collaboration also includes a comparative study between the turbine designed at the College of Applied Sciences - Hit and the turbines at the Renewable Energy Research Center. This study aims to test and analyze the performance and efficiency of local designs against the models used at the center, helping to identify strengths and areas for improvement in the locally designed turbine while providing scientific recommendations to enhance its performance and efficiency.
This partnership strengthens the ties between the Renewable Energy Research Center and the College of Applied Sciences - Hit, aiming to achieve scientific outcomes that benefit the local community and contribute to the development of sustainable and efficient energy solutions. The findings of this research project are expected to support Iraq’s efforts to harness renewable energy and equip Iraqi researchers to address local environmental challenges through innovative and sustainable scientific solutions.
