Assistant Prof. Dr. Rabah Nori Farhan, a researcher at the Renewable Energy Research Center at the University of Anbar, obtained a patent issued by the Central Organization for Standardization and Quality Control tagged with the (design and implementation of a smart monitoring system on Iraqi water dams). In this patent, a smart monitoring system was designed and implemented on the Iraqi water dams, as a wireless sensor network system has been developed whose mission is to monitor the safety of the dam. The sensor network includes heterogeneous types of sensors distributed in different parts of the dam to collect data about the safety of the dam. The sensor nodes are deployed across the dam body and are linked to the central node. The fuzzy control system was also used to adjust and maintain the time and open and close the dam gate according to the condition of the dam. The system was also provided with SMS communications for remote communication across the country. The application allows real time to collect and process sensor data and present it to the user through a suitable written interface in C# language.
The system's overall performance has been tested on the basis of a dam gauge, and it gives promising results and adapts well to vibration and sudden increased water level.
