A scientific workshop on "Vertical Turbines and Their Role in Powering Electricity"

As part of its ongoing scientific and awareness-raising activities, the Renewable Energy Research Center at Anbar University organized a specialized lecture entitled:
"Vertical Turbines and Their Role in Powering Electricity." The lecture was presented by Dr. Raed Khader, and attended by a number of faculty members and environmental and energy experts.
During the lecture, Dr. Raed reviewed recent developments in the design and operation of vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs), highlighting the fundamental differences between them and traditional horizontal turbines in terms of efficiency, ease of installation, and ability to operate in low and variable wind conditions. The lecture also addressed the technical and engineering dimensions of this technology, its suitability for integration with hybrid energy projects, and its potential use in urban areas, given their compact size and low noise compared to their horizontal axis counterparts. The lecture highlighted the role of vertical turbines in supporting the electrical power system, particularly in remote and rural areas, where they can be exploited as a sustainable source of energy that contributes to reducing dependence on traditional electrical grids and limiting carbon emissions. Dr. Raed emphasized that the future of energy depends on diversifying production sources and adopting flexible technologies applicable in various environments. He emphasized the importance of supporting scientific research in this field and encouraging students and researchers to develop local models that suit Iraq's environmental and economic conditions. The lecture included an open discussion with the audience, during which several important scientific questions and contributions were raised, reflecting the participants' interest and keenness to keep pace with technological developments in the field of renewable energy.
At the conclusion of the event, the attendees expressed their thanks and appreciation to Dr. Raed Khader for his distinguished scientific presentation, emphasizing the importance of continuing such scientific activities that contribute to spreading the culture of clean energy and strengthening the role of universities in supporting the country's development process.
